GRAPHIC ARTIST: Movie Poster Design WORKLOOP Challenge

This past month and a half has been absolutely crazy with our Inaugural Indie Film Loop Conference & Creative Showcase coming this August at the Cobb Galleria. From our monthly showcase events, to panel discussions and radio interviews all the way to a reality TV Appearance on the new “Pitch The Crowd” show that will be airing on Comcast soon! We even got to tour the new Pinewood studios in Fayetteville through the Georgia Production Partnership where we met and made some great connections with industry insiders. It’s an exciting time! Now, with our Kick-starter campaign getting ready to launch on June 8th to help us raise $4,000 and more so we will be able to award our competition winners $3,000 of it and then use the rest to purchase some of the printing materials and signage needed to really make the conference look and feel great, the momentum won’t stop. But, before that, our WORKLOOP CHALLENGE is back and we are ready to make Movie Posters! Are all of you Graphic Artist out there ready?!

For the Graphic artist looking to make his/her way into the film industry, showcasing Industry related in front of directors, producers and more, is your best chance and this is it! We challenge you to create a film poster that will truly represent the movie “GROUNDED” in a unique and engaging way. Use the short synopsis and photo(s) provided by the winners of our first WORKLOOP Challenges as a guideline. If you are able to capture the essence of the story, your work will be displayed at the Cobb Galleria Centre this August in Atlanta, GA. for everyone to see and admire.

RULES FOR SUBMITTING

First, download the zip file of images and logos you have to use in your poster designs from our website. The synopsis is your story guideline. Use it to help you pull together a design that best fits it based on the images provided. All of the images can be used or just one per design. It’s up to you. You can also use stock images to incorporate into your design but you must either have the rights to use those images if you use them in its entirety, or you must be able to completely change/manipulate the look and feel of any stock image you use in your designs in order to make it your own. Once you have completed your designs, you will be able to submit up to 3 versions for us to critique. The top designs will be announced the following week or two after. The winners will be showcased at the Cobb Galleria this August 7, 8, 9 and also receive Complimentary Access Passes to the Film conference as well.

Short Synopsis

The tragic death of one soldier’s older brother and mentor leaves him mentally and physically broken. After being dishonorably discharged from a successful military career, this solider is left to face one last battle, alone. Will he be able to rise above his inner doubts and truly take flight?

  • Design a Movie Poster that best fits the synopsis provided.
  • Use the movie’s title “GROUNDED” on your poster
  • Indie Film Loop Logo must be used as the Film Company. You may add your logo/brand as the designer of the poster in the credits or parts of the design as well but should not be the main focus.
  • Must use at least one of the included images of our actors but, can use any mixture of those images or the combination of them to make a collage as well.
  • The images used should also be credited by name in the credits. (The names are associated with the images in the folder provided. Names do not have to be on the poster itself if the design is more minimal. But, please include a text document with the names of the image(s) used so they can be included on the information sheet we print out later at the conference.
  • Stock photos can be used for background, effects, etc. but, you must either have the rights to use the photo or you must change/manipulate the images so that it is a completely new image designed by you.
  • Upload up to 3 versions of your design.
  • Final Image sizes must not exceed 6mb and must be high quality images (300dpi, jpg, Tiff, or PDF formats)
  • Release form must be signed and submitted in full.
  • Up to 3 winners will be selected.
  • Work should be submitted to http://indiefilmloop.submittable.com/ by 11:59pm EST on Wednesday June 17th.
